Flying the flag for Schloss Broich
EASY is flying the flag – or banner, to be precise: Since the start of February, a 3 x 12 m2 poster has been decorating the walls of Mülheim’s Schloss Broich. Here, EASY SOFTWARE AG is stepping up to the plate to help save the castle.
Suffering from the ravages of time
The back story: Mülheim’s trademark, Schloss Broich, is in danger of falling into serious disrepair. The most significant Carolingian fortification in the German-speaking world is beset with gaping holes and disintegrating masonry that are threatening to completely destroy the only remaining military site left that witnessed the struggle against the Vikings.
Campaign to save the castle
Mülheim Stadtmarketing und Tourismus GmbH (MST) has launched a huge campaign to save this unique architectural monument. The goal is to bring about the restoration of the castle that is in acute danger. But because funds for such activities are limited, the MST sent out a call for knights in shining armour to come to the aid of the castle. One of the “cornerstones” of the campaign are advertising banners draped on the scaffolding around the castle, with which Mulheim companies can demonstrate their solidarity with their history and their home town.
One small part of the bigger picture
This was an opportunity that EASY SOFTWARE AG was happy to take advantage of. “We believe that this is a chance for us to make a contribution, albeit a relatively small one, to saving our town’s signature building. We are convinced that all the effort is worth it in order to save this unique historical architectural monument for many future generations, so they may be able to enjoy it,” says Willy Cremers, EASY’s CEO.
60,000 potential sightings
Apart from the intrinsic and idealistic value of the action, this type of commitment also offers a not inconsiderable advertising advantage. Located at a large road intersection, the castle wall represents an ideal roadside advertising surface. Hanging in front of the centuries-old eye-catcher on the Ruhr, the modern banner stands out in stark contrast to its background. In addition, it is expected to be seen by up to 60,000 people over the course of ten days. This is the number of pedestrians, car drivers and passengers on the local bus services who will pass by this intersection during that time, according to calculations made by the MST.
Strong local presence
As the EASY SOFTWARE signage has been put back into operation at the head office in Mülheim, after an absence of a few years, at virtually the same time, it is not a stretch to say that EASY is more in the public eye than ever before.
