- EASY SOFTWARE signs sponsorship agreement with E-Sports team of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach
- With its commitment, EASY SOFTWARE will support the third-placed team from last season in the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) as an official technology partner
- Start of the two-year partnership as of July 10th 2019
EASY SOFTWARE AG is now involved in the fast-growing E-Sports market and supports the virtual soccer team of Borussia Mönchengladbach as the official “technology partner of Borussia-E-Sports”. CEO Dieter Weißhaar and representatives of Borussia Mönchengladbach agreed today, Wednesday, on the framework conditions for the partnership, which will be binding for two years.
Since January 2019, the four-member E-Sports team has been playing professional tournaments in Germany and internationally in the popular football simulation game “FIFA” for the traditional club. In the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL), the young team finished third in the table in its first 2019 season.
E-Sports is no longer a niche phenomenon. With more than 453.8 million viewers worldwide (growth of +15.0% compared to the previous year), the sporting competitions between gamers with the help of computer games on the PC or the console currently inspire above all a young, male and particularly technically savvy target group aged 18 and 35 years. But the proportion of female fans is also on the rise.
“We are very pleased to be able to support the young E-Sports team of Borussia with our products and services in their further development over the next two years as a technology partner. E-Sports stands for dynamism, commitment and fairness – for cross-cultural integration and the connection of generations. Attributes which we at EASY also live in our work and in the common cooperation at all locations. We share a common enthusiasm for digitization,” explains Dieter Weißhaar, CEO of EASY SOFTWARE AG.
“With EASY SOFTWARE, we have one of the market-leading software companies in Germany at our side as a strong partner for the digitization of business processes at Borussia E-Sports. A software application specially tailored to our needs by EASY SOFTWARE will simplify the bureaucratic work of travel planning and competition monitoring for our E-Athletes in the future,” emphasizes Andreas Cüppers, Head of Digital Development at Borussia Mönchengladbach and responsible for the E-Sports division.
A first joint public appearance by Borussia-E-Sports and its new technology partner is planned for EASY WORLD 2019 in Mülheim on September 11th. At the company’s own partner event, visitors will have the opportunity to compete against two of the E-Athletes in the “FIFA” football simulation in the new “Beat the Pro” event format.
