- Market-leading software company from the Ruhr region invests in promoting young talent and cuttingedge technology
- Establishment of a network of companies to provide further support
- Promotion of the future topics of applied artificial intelligence in the region
EASY SOFTWARE AG, a German software company and one of the market leaders in the area of content services platforms, continues to invest in the promotion of young talent and cutting-edge technology in the region. The company, headquartered in Mülheim an der Ruhr, will support the development of digitization know-how over the next few years with the help of applied artificial intelligence in form of an endowed professorship at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences (HRW). Building on previous commitments in the areas of sustainability and society, EASY SOFTWARE makes a tangible contribution to the region’s future viability and the benefit of the people living in it. The endowed chair complements HRW’s existing research field in the field of digitization (e.g. Internet of things – IoT).
At the same time, EASY SOFTWARE invites other companies to become involved in a circle of friends to be founded and thus participate in the research results. The circle of friends should enable the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences to conduct interdisciplinary and application-oriented research in the field of artificial intelligence and to teach the corresponding methods. Young people will benefit from this in their education and for their further professional development, as will companies that will depend on this know-how in the future.
The circle of friends addresses companies that feel committed to this objective and that are willing to participate in its implementation through financial and personal commitment. The engagement goes to 100 percent into the development of competence in the area of applied artificial intelligence in planning and analysis, in particular in the field of digitization of business processes and models at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
The research focuses combine mathematics, computer sciences and economics. These include:
- Methodology (especially supervised learning with expert knowledge, reinforcement learning and unsupervised learning – self-organisation of the learning system)
- Learning systems for the evaluation of data (e.g. for pattern recognition)
- Forecasting and decision automation
- Changes in business models
With the endowed professorship, EASY SOFTWARE also pursues clear and measurable corporate goals.
“EASY SOFTWARE aims to be a decisive step ahead in the competition for highly qualified employees by providing sustained support for young people and by systematically expanding their skills. In addition, we help to better research and train core competences in the area of digitizing business processes. In order to be able to remain at the forefront of development in this area, we took the initiative quickly and unbureaucratically together with HRW,” says Dieter Weißhaar, CEO of EASY SOFTWARE AG
The investments in education are only one part of EASY SOFTWARE’s extensive commitment in the field of talent promotion. In addition to regular scholarships, EASY SOFTWARE also supports the promotion of women in the IT industry as part of the WINIT (Women in IT) program. In addition, the company is actively committed to diversity and equality among the more than 380 employees of the EASY Group.
“The endowed professorship for applied artificial intelligence underlines the competence of the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences to align its academic work with the tasks of the companies, to occupy future topics, and thus to train for the market according to demand. We offer our students practical training, excellent contacts to market-leading companies and thus excellent career opportunities. We are very pleased about the cooperation with the donor EASY SOFTWARE AG, because this is a partnership at eye level with a regional reference”, says Prof. Dr. Susanne Staude, Chairwoman of the university.
