Release: EASY Archive 7

After a long wait, it’s now time: EASY Archive 7 is now available to you for release. We’ve put in a lot of work and implemented many of the requests we often heard.

EASY Archive 7 is available for you as a new major release in Version 7. We’ve put in a lot of work and implemented many of the requests we often heard. One thing is certain: a lot of things are easier and more scalable with Archive 7. Surprise yourself and get an overview.

Archiving software for common operating systems

With EASY Archive 7 we provide optimized implementations for common operating systems. Our archiving software supports the following platforms: For Windows, Linux and cloud platforms, we provide packages for installing EASY Archive 7. These are in detail:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Linux (Debian)
  • For cloud platforms: Docker

Conventions instead of configurations – even for archiving software

We’ve learned from experience, which is why we’re performing a radical paradigm shift with EASY Archive 7. This is reflected in the installation routine in particular. We’re making it easier than ever for administrators. Simply double click to install the package suitable for your operating system. We’ve done this on the assumption of a widespread standard environment together with specific parameters. If this isn’t the case for your system, or if you want to, you can adjust this via other options before installation. Another highlight: the installation package contains a temporary license – that means the first administrative tasks can be completed immediately. It can then be replaced by a license for productive use later.

Scalable at the click of a button: EASY Archive and Docker

How the utilization of an archive develops can hardly be estimated in advance. This is why we have developed EASY Archive 7 so that it can “live” in a docker container and run immediately.  In the current version, we can serve cloud scenarios, so it is basically executable. The upcoming version 7.1 (expected mid-2020) will implement the scalability required for “real” cloud load scenarios. However, docker capability has already been established.

Scaling problems will therefore be a thing of the past. With just a few clicks you can provide additional docker instances of EASY Archive 7. This topic is particularly interesting for customers and partners in the cloud environment.

Command line interface for internal tools

Following our paradigm shift, we also thought about the future admins of EASY Archive 7. Thus, the familiar internal tools of our archiving software are now also available for use via command line. This will greatly simplify admin life – especially for operating EASY Archive in docker environments.

Moreover, the development team has optimized the content web services (RESTful). Preparations were also made for an AI-based maintenance Web service for use in the next versions. The same applies to new logging functions, which were implemented with other EASY development teams and with a view to the EASY ONE strategy.

EASY Archive 7: benefits at a glance

EASY Archive 7 will be interesting and exciting for customers and partners looking for a flexible, platform-optimized archive solution. The following points can be highlighted as significant advantages:

  • Easy integration with ERP solutions
  • Easy integration with leading applications
  • Very easy to install and maintain
  • Contains all necessary components for revision-proof archiving
  • Support of Docker environments for future scaling requirements

With the upcoming archive solution EASY Archive 7, you will use the further development of one of the market-leading software products in the archiving sector in Germany – grown through experience and prepared for the future.
